An emergency maintenance windows has been planned for this afternoon to update our DELL switches in the datacentre. The switches are in need of a critical patch to in order to re-establish their full capabilities.
We are planning to carry out the maintenance is two phases:
Phase 1: Apply system updates.
This is scheduled to commence this afternoon (Fri 14/01/2022) from 16:00. There is a small risk of a network outage that could last no more than 10mins, however the vendor has stated that the risk is very minimal.
Phase 2: Reboot the switches
This is scheduled to start tomorrow (Sat 15/01/2022) from 07:00. There will be a complete network outage that should last no more than 30mins.
Unfortunately, due to the criticality of this issue, we have to complete this work as soon as possible. The risk of a complete network outage is higher if we do not take these necessary steps today.
